​About this role:

This opportunity would suit a person looking to gain experience and help develop their career within the museum and heritage sector. It will also suit a retired person looking for a new interest and wanting to meet new people.

 

Key responsibilities:

• Providing a warm, friendly and informal welcome to visitors

• Engaging visitors in the displays and stories the Museum tells

• Supporting visitors in getting the most from their visit by answering visitor queries and providing high-quality customer service

 

Commitment:

• We are looking for people who can regularly volunteer, ideally for just a morning or afternoon each week. The Museum is open five days a week from Easter through to October, and there are two shifts available each day; 11am until 1.30pm and 1.15pm until 4.00pm. During the winter months the museum is open weekends only

 

Training: 

• Training will be provided prior to starting

 

Requirements:

• Driving license

• References needed

• Over 18+ years old

• Interested in / a willingness to learn about museums, heritage and local history

• Friendly, engaging, and approachable

• Good communication and interpersonal skills
